POSITION SUMMARY

Mountain Star Pride seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Treasurer to oversee the financial health and stability of our organization. The Treasurer will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, budget management, and compliance with all relevant regulations. This position requires strong organizational skills, financial acumen, and a commitment to Mountain Star Pride’s mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income and expenses.

  • Manage bank accounts and reconcile monthly statements. ○ Process payments and reimbursements.

  • Develop and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

  • Provide regular financial reports to the Board, including budget vs. actuals, cash flow statements, and other relevant metrics.

  • Oversee the organization's investments, if applicable.

Tax and Compliance:

  • Ensure timely filing of all required tax forms (e.g., 990).

  • Stay informed about relevant tax laws and regulations affecting nonprofit organizations.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Budgeting and Approvals:

  • Lead the annual budget development process, working closely with the Board and relevant committees.

  • Monitor budget performance throughout the year and provide variance analysis.

  • Establish and maintain internal controls for financial approvals and expenditures.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain organized and accessible financial records, both physical and electronic.

  • Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.

  • Oversee the retention and disposal of financial records in accordance with legal and organizational policies.

Other Duties:

  • Attend Board meetings and provide financial updates.

  • Serve as a resource for financial information and guidance to staff and volunteers.

  • Participate in strategic planning and other organizational activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Mountain Star Pride.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations.

  • Knowledge of tax regulations for nonprofits.
