POSITION SUMMARY
Mountain Star Pride seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Treasurer to oversee the financial health and stability of our organization. The Treasurer will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, budget management, and compliance with all relevant regulations. This position requires strong organizational skills, financial acumen, and a commitment to Mountain Star Pride’s mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income and expenses.

Manage bank accounts and reconcile monthly statements. ○ Process payments and reimbursements.

Develop and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

Provide regular financial reports to the Board, including budget vs. actuals, cash flow statements, and other relevant metrics.

Oversee the organization's investments, if applicable.
Tax and Compliance:

Ensure timely filing of all required tax forms (e.g., 990).

Stay informed about relevant tax laws and regulations affecting nonprofit organizations.

Maintain compliance with all applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Budgeting and Approvals:

Lead the annual budget development process, working closely with the Board and relevant committees.

Monitor budget performance throughout the year and provide variance analysis.

Establish and maintain internal controls for financial approvals and expenditures.
Record Keeping:

Maintain organized and accessible financial records, both physical and electronic.

Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.

Oversee the retention and disposal of financial records in accordance with legal and organizational policies.
Other Duties:

Attend Board meetings and provide financial updates.

Serve as a resource for financial information and guidance to staff and volunteers.

Participate in strategic planning and other organizational activities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.

Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.

Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with nonprofit organizations.

Knowledge of tax regulations for nonprofits.
